Singin' in the Rain is a 1952's comedic musical romance directed by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly. It is a production of MGM that stars Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds. Singin' in the Rain is about a silent film production company that makes a transition to sound so they can keep up with the film industry.
I really liked the plot of this movie which had a main focus on how stressful, competitive and demanding the transition from silent film to film with sound can be.
I enjoyed watching Singin’ in the Rain because it was continuously entertaining especially the way all the characters, love them or hate them, were portrayed thru-out. My favourite character is Cosmo Brown. Because of his comedic acting and enthusiastic grins, his presence brings a light and happy mood to the film. He is a helping personality and a really good friend to old time pal to Don Lockwood helping and encouraging him with his career.
Although I really enjoyed all the musical sequins, my favourite scene in the film was the ending scene where Kathy is finally revealed to be the real voice. I liked this scene because it shows Lina finally get what she had coming after treating Kathy so rudely and using Kathy’s talents for herself. After being discovered Kathy and Don are happy together where as justice is being rightfully served to Lina. Lina being solely a silent movie star is lost now that film has advanced to film with sound.
Overall I really liked Singin’ in the Rain because of its musical qualities and extensive details. I felt that the main idea being a transition form silent film to film with sound was very clever. Singin’ in the Rain is a memorable film that can be seen plenty of times and still be enjoyable. It is a great musical that has been remembered for years and years and will be remembered for years to come.
